PIPE HEATING EQUIPMENT
MODELS BRL/HMB

Pipe heating units are designed to dry and warm the pipe surface immediately prior to application of a new coating system. CRC-Evans’ line travelling system, Model BRL, uses hot air to accomplish the task. Designed primarily for in situ work, its clamshell design allows for pipe mounting and demounting at any point along the pipe.

A narrow-slot air delivery vent at the front of the unit squeegees moisture and debris from the pipe. Other vents provide additional warm air flow to bring the pipe surface to the required temperature.

Capable of accommodating pipe sizes from 40-48 inches (1020-1220 mm), it requires under-pipe clearance of 28 inches (720 mm) on the largest pipe. An electric drive system supplies forward/reverse travel at variable speeds.

The hot air is generated by a natural gas or liquid propane/ butane-fired heater. The heater is rated at 420,000 BTU/hr (100,000 Kcal/hr). It is mounted on a mobile support platform, Model HMB; there is no fired equipment in the ditch.

A control panel on the HMB provides all operational control for both units, including safety shutdown controls. An electric-drive blower fan provides the forced air supply. The air is delivered from the heater to the line travel unit by a flexible, heat-resistant conduit.

The support platform is of rigid steel construction. It is designed to be mounted to the customer’s tracked trailer or skid for towing along the right-of-way.
