Operation of Oscillating Abrasive Blast (OAB)
equipment requires supplementary equipment to support the surface preparation
process. This equipment may be provided by the buyer or it can be furnished
as a complete assembly, Model BSE. In either case, it consists of several
individual components.
A three-outlet blast pot with a capacity of 160 fpm³. (4.53 mpm³)
is used to supply the abrasive media. Alternatively, three single-out
pots may be used. Crew members recharge the pot(s) as necessary. An
air dryer capable of 1200 fpm³ (35.4 mpm³) is required to
maintain a moisturefree supply of source air and to prevent line clogging.
Various inlet and outlet hoses are necessary for air and media supply.
A small 5-kw generator is also required for electrical power to BSE
components and the line travel unit. Additionally, an air compressor
(not supplied) with a
capacity of 1300 fpm³ (36 mpm³) is required.
All equipment excepting, the air compressor, must be mounted to the
buyer’s tracked trailer or skid. Equipment for transferring blast
media from the supply depot to the BSE is the buyer’s responsibility.
The air compressor (air hoses not furnished) may be trained to the BSE
or towed by separate equipment as right-of-way conditions dictate.
